Professional Indoor Football League Names Michael Woodhouse of the Richmond Raiders Defensive Player of the Week

The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) has named Richmond Raiders defensive lineman Michael Woodhouse, defensive Player of the Week.

Defensive lineman Michael Woodhouse (6’4 270, Montgomery JC) has been mainstay on the Richmond Raiders (4-1) defense for the past couple of seasons and this past Saturday he guided his club to three games over .500 for just the second time in franchise history.  In their 62-44 victory over the Alabama Hammers (1-3), Woodhouse came up with three tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and two sacks helping the Raiders force three turnovers against the Hammers.  His efforts on Saturday earned him the PIFL Week 5 Defensive Player of the Week, his first nod for the 2012 season.

All PIFL clubs will resume action this Saturday with the resuming of a cross-state rivalry with the undefeated Albany Panthers (4-0) hosting the Columbus Lions (3-2), along with the start of a border war between the Alabama Hammers (1-3) and the Knoxville Nighthawks (0-4).  In addition, two teams going in opposite directions will square off as the Louisiana Swashbucklers (1-3), losers of three straight, play host to the hot Richmond Raiders (4-1), winners of three straight.

The Richmond Raiders return to the Richmond Coliseum on May 5 in a rematch against the Louisiana Swashbucklers.
