KNOXVILLE, TN (August 8, 2012) – The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce the addition of the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks franchise making them the seventh member of the PIFL for the upcoming 2013 season.
Based in Bethlehem, PA, the Steelhawks will be entering their third season overall and will once again play their home games on the campus of Lehigh University at Stabler Arena.
“The addition of the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks to the Professional Indoor Football League is more than expansion. Their addition represents strategic growth for the PIFL,” says PIFL Executive Committee Member John Hargrove. “Lehigh Valley brings quality, value and performance in regards to strong leadership on and off the field, their business accomplishments and the Lehigh Valley community that they serve.”
On August 27th, the Professional Indoor Football League will hold its annual Winter Meetings in Atlanta, GA with discussions expected to be held in areas such as expansion, rule changes, 2013 schedule while looking forward to the upcoming 2013 season.
The PIFL now consists of teams in Richmond, VA, Knoxville, TN, Columbus, GA, Albany, GA, Huntsville, AL, Lake Charles, LA, and Lehigh Valley, PA. The league holds a 12-game regular season schedule that runs March through June. The PIFL’s playoffs begin in late June culminating with the PIFL Championship Cup.
